Camera Shy.

The other night, Justin and I were talking about my body image right now. Let's just say that it's not great. I'm pretty darn frustrated with it, and just frustrated with myself in general, because when I look in the mirror, I don't like anything that I see.

Sure, my body just accomplished the incredible feat of giving birth. It has come a long way. But it's still really bizarre to look in the mirror and not recognize the person looking back.

Anyway, we discussed that the really bad part about this {aside from feeling badly about myself}, is that there are very few pictures of Lizzy and I together. I'm already usually the one behind the camera, and if I'm not, now I just tend to automatically delete any pictures that happen to be snapped of me because I hate how I look.

So, I've decided to embark upon a challenge. From now until September 1st, I pinky promise to post one picture of myself each week. Anyone want to play along?

They don't have to be well-composed shots. Or even in focus. It just has to be a current picture of you. We start tomorrow :)

  1. I'm sorry that you're not loving your body right now, that's the worst. I think your challenge is a great idea! Can't wait to see how it goes and if it helps you feel more confident with your body.

  2. This is an awesome idea! I was just having a similar conversation with my husband last night after going clothes shopping yesterday.

After having our daughter in January, I just feel like everything fits me differently and I'm still getting used to my new body.

I'm going to participate! Looking forward to seeing our shots over the next few months!

  3. I am in. With peanut I hated my body so I have very few pictures of us together and I regret that now. I said I would be better with Little Man but I really haven't. I hope this will force me in front of the camera with the kiddos more!

  4. I have this same problem with pictures, pre-baby. I worry about this too, once I have a child, as I grew up like this with my mom in now photos.

You are so brave to take this on, and I know you can do it.

Remember, YOU. ARE. BEAUTIFUL. You are a child of God, just like your gorgeous little baby girl, who we all love seeing pictures of. We will love seeing pictures of you, too!

  5. What a cool idea! Are there any rules? Like every picture can't be of just your face?

  8. I am SO in! I have the exact problem! I'm trying to get over it though- I actually just posted a horrible pic of me (no make up, double chin, bathing suit- eek!) on FB because it was the only one of all three of us from an entire week at the beach.

  9. Great Idea! I suffer from all of what you're talking about - both the negative body image and always being bedhind the camera. I'm going to play along! :)

  13. I think I have one pic of me and the baby together. And she's 4 months old. So yeah. I'm thinking I should totally do this.

Can it be a photo of just my ear or something?

    (kidding. mostly.)

  14. This is SUCH a great idea!! I started realizing - like when we went to Disneyland and Disneyworld in the same year, I was looking through the pictures thinking, Did I even go on this trip? How horrible is that? I will participate!

  15. I rarely post pictures of myslef on my blog. Especially right now. I'm at the in between stages of looking pregnant and just look like I've gained some weight.
