As far as feeding goes, when I was in Africa, we had certain babies we had to wake to feed because they would never eat if we didn't. However, those babies were also pretty sick, so I don't really know how that changed verses what you would do with a normal baby that simply slept all the time.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1170116880352300881.post-91992529378347827312010-02-02T12:56:22.789-08:002010-02-02T12:56:22.789-08:00I can't get over how much she looks like you!!...I can't get over how much she looks like you!! Until they are around 3 months, and then they can decide.During the day it should be between 2 and 4 hours.

And since we're both in the same state, I also agree with the cold, rainy weather. She's currently 8th percentile and always hovered in the teens as an infant.

I never woke her in the night, despite doctor's recommendations(not orders mind you), because he also said as long as she is healthy for her size and doesn't lose weight and progresses on the growth chart, let her determine how much she needs herself.

I agree with the waking in the day, but if she's not losing weight let her determine her own night schedule. Once we got home, I never woke him to eat- not once. He settled into a fantastic routine, and starting STTN at 5 weeks and hasn't looked back. I am not against waking them either, I can understand why your dr. would want that, I just had really good luck letting Brayden tell me when he was hungry. When I asked my midwife about it she burst out laughing and told me that you never wake a sleeping baby! Too true. They are amazing little creatures with in-built survival instincts that will not allow them to starve to death. When they are hungry, they'll let you know!
