I usually replace mine about every year and a half or so. If you have a fit2run or a fleet feet or store like that near you, they will test your feet & your stride and help you pick something out.Caseyhttp://thebakerbee.wordpress.comnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1170116880352300881.post-47638867582599543932010-05-26T18:44:49.862-07:002010-05-26T18:44:49.862-07:00I agree with what everyone else said. You either reach the maximum amount of miles or the maximum amount of time you can have them. I've heard for running shoes it's about five hundred miles or every year, whichever comes first.Saranoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1170116880352300881.post-36032558094940486702010-05-26T14:26:46.412-07:002010-05-26T14:26:46.412-07:00I have gotten shin splints before and I was pretty...I have gotten shin splints before and I was pretty sure it was from having a too old worn out pair of shoes. I am getting them now as well which is complete BALONEY when you work on your feet all day and play so much soccer (although we see why I am getting them!!) Shoes should ideally be replaced every 500 miles or so, or every year.

The best advice I can give anyone who runs is to get fitted at a specialty store. Even if you have to make a special trip to the nearest big city. The people there will analyze the way you walk and run, as well as the wear on your old shoes so that they can recommend shoes that will work best for your gait pattern and biomechanics.

Getting a pair of shoes that is right for you will make a world of difference, and you will be SO glad that you took the time, effort, and expense of getting fitted. (The fitting shouldn't cost you anything, and most good running shoes are between $90-$150 max)GnomeSweetGnomehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01298552944427075164noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1170116880352300881.post-83005761918724581582010-05-26T11:22:04.620-07:002010-05-26T11:22:04.620-07:00New shoes are important. And then try on the shoe, get the model/make and buy them online. I spent over $100 on shoes from fleet feet and then went to BIG 5 sporting goods to find the same exact shoes for $25.00 I was royally pissed. Also, if you don't want to shell out money for new shoes right now maybe try arch support inserts until you can figure out which shoes you like best.Krystiehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10111861320192232321noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1170116880352300881.post-56312448164736722512010-05-26T10:34:11.926-07:002010-05-26T10:34:11.926-07:00Hmmm, I just looked it up, and we don't have a...Hmmm, I just looked it up, and we don't have a running store nearby :(Meredithhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08257863829848728846noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1170116880352300881.post-18136202875195402052010-05-26T10:22:56.492-07:002010-05-26T10:22:56.492-07:00Yes, old, worn-out running shoes can cause shin sp...Yes, old, worn-out running shoes can cause shin splints and a host of other foot and leg problems. It pains me to say it, but usually running shoes are a category where you get what you pay for. I had a foot analysis done at our local running store and Asics are my best shoe, but everyone's feet and strike are different so it's hard to suggest one shoe or brand.Emilyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04793480432068543767noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1170116880352300881.post-55951330439160788582010-05-26T10:21:18.114-07:002010-05-26T10:21:18.114-07:00shin splints can be caused by many issues. i high...shin splints can be caused by many issues. i highly recommend going to a running store and getting professionally fitted for a pair of shoes. you will probably spend about 100.00 on your shoes, but it is well worth it. plus after the first time you are fitted, you will know what kind of shoes are for you (moderate stability, stability, etc.) and you can buy them cheaper else where. plus most running shoe stores have awesome return policies if the shoe does not work out for you after X amount of days.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
