In the Photo...and it's Friday!

I love this photo.
Even though the camera strap is in the way.
Even though Lizzy's arm is blurry.
Even though I'm not wearing makeup.
Even though people always think Lizzy is a boy in this shot {gasp! no pink!}.
Even though my carpet desperately needs to be cleaned.
I still LOVE this photo.

Snippets

- I'm really tired. Lizzy and I both have colds. On top of that, her sleep has been seriously deteriorating. She used to sleep through the night, but now she's not anymore. She's usually up at 3am or 4am, standing up in her crib, and hysterical. Nothing that I've tried so far (bottle, rocking, lullaby music, motrin, etc) seems to make any bit of difference. If Justin gets up first to go to her, he tends to take the, "YOU LAY DOWN RIGHT NOW AND GO TO SLEEP" approach. I definitely approach the situation differently, and that causes some friction between the two of us as well. It's just a frustrating situation all around.

-In the same vein, we need a date night really badly. Time to reconnect. I'm just not sure when that will even be feasible with Justin's crazy and unpredictable work schedule.

- I've made Blackberry cobbler probably seven times in the past two weeks, using a modified version of this recipe. PS- please note that the original calls for self-rising flour. I didn't notice this for the first cobbler, and it didn't turn out so well. If you only have all purpose flour, just add 1.5 tsp baking powder and 1tsp salt to make your own self rising flour.

Dessert 9.08.10

-I've been taking photos of what I've been eating this week. You can view the Flickr set here if you're interested. I probably won't do it every day, just because I'm too cheap to buy a Pro Flickr account, so there's a monthly limit to what I can upload.

-I've had a few people ask about In the Photo Friday. My original commitment was to do ITPF until September. I'm not sure if I want to continue to do it weekly, or just every so often. If anyone else wants to host it on their blog, maybe that would be a good idea? What do y'all think?

-I've been alternating the 30 Day Shred with Jillian Michael's Yoga Meltdown, and let me tell you...yoga meltdown is NO JOKE. I've done yoga before, but I have never sweat doing yoga like I did with that DVD. Holy COW.

In the Photo Friday

I'm really excited about In the Photo Friday this week because I have not one, but TWO photos. And I actually LIKE both of them. This is a major accomplishment people!

The first is a photo of all three of us from a wedding this past weekend. It's so nice to have a picture where all three of us were dressed up. If only I had remembered to pull the pacifier from Lizzy's mouth!

The second is also living proof that I have fulfilled number #36 from my 101 in 1001 list (introduce Lizzy to Kaitlin and Jesse).  I'm sure I've mentioned before that Kaitlin and I are long-time friends in real life, who usually have to keep up with each other via blog/internet/phone right now, since Jesse is in the Air Force and stationed out of state. Nevertheless, they are great friends, and we love spending time with them when they're here! Our kids don't know it yet, but they are betrothed (mostly kidding), and they were not quite as thrilled about their first official picture as we were, but they will learn in due time.

In all seriousness though, Lizzy loves Jaxon. I think she thinks that he is a toy. The love seems to be unrequited, but if I were Jaxon, I probably wouldn't be too thrilled about Lizzy trying to stick her fingers in my eyeballs either (I heard that I missed that somehow today Kait--I'm sorry!)...

In the Photo Friday

Snuggling with not one, but TWO babies yesterday. Just call me the baby whisperer ;)

I was holding them both and realized, 'Holy COW, this is exactly what it would be like to have twins!'

In the Photo Friday

It's been a long week, but I still kinda forgot it was Friday. I didn't have a photo, so I snapped one really fast, straight out of the shower and all:

Even though I love photography with the best of them, life doesn't always come with perfect lighting and a studio set-up. Sometimes, we're lucky just to have the point and shoot and a stolen, unposed minute.

And goodness, The Lizard's eyes sure are blue!

Watermelon Margaritas may not have been the best idea
the night before i had to get up at 3am, but boy did I enjoy them!

In the Photo Friday- Week 5

This past weekend, Justin's baby sister married one of his best friends.

Sadly, I forgot my camera, but was able to steal some shots from Facebook. Kaitlin's parents were the photographers, and her mom told me that they got at least one shot of the three of us, which I'm thankful for. Still, these pictures are difficult for me to look at. It might be silly or petty, but I had kind of secretly planned in my head to have lost all the baby weight by Kelsey's wedding. And I haven't, despite my best efforts and what feels like constant working out. And I feel fat and lumpy double-chin-y and depressed about it.

Okay, those last two weren't terrible. Not what I WANT, but not terrible. But the full-body shots are what really make me cringe.
Blech. I just don't like it at all. Any of it. It kind of makes me want to cry. Truthfully, I always feel big compared to the girls in Justin's family who are naturally small and petite. Even when I was skinny, I felt "big" because I was so much taller. But now I'm taller AND bigger, and that sucks.

And on that happy note, if you participated in "In The Photo Friday" this week, be sure to leave a comment to let us all know!

In the Photo Friday- Week 4

Holy cow--I totally forgot it was Friday this morning! Luckily, I happen to have a picture to post--I took Lizzy and two of her cousins to a children's craft fair this past week, and ran into ex-co-worker (and friend!) Emily. Her husband snapped this picture while we were chatting.

I am too lazy to make a MckLinky this morning, so if you're also participating, just leave a comment to let everyone know!

In the Photo Friday- Week 3

We're on to week three lovely ladies.
Here's one my mom snapped yesterday of Lizzy and I swimming.
She loves the water, just like her momma.

Me, as Spinach.

I was thrilled to see so many of you hamming it up for the camera last Friday! Time for round two :) But before we start this week, I did want to clear up two things, just in case there is any confusion:

1- You do NOT have to be a mom to participate.

2- You do NOT need to include your husband/baby/dog in the picture if you don't want to.
As long as it has YOU, it's all good.

{Note: A lot of my photos probably will be of Lizzy and I, because I want to increase the number of pictures that exist of the two of us. But sometimes, like this week, it just might be me being silly or serious or whatever}.

So.....here we go. Here I am, doing my best impression of a leaf of Spinach. I TOLD YOU that they are bigger than my head!

PS- Don't mind the huge shiner on my arm...a line drive took a funny hop at our last softball game. But do not fear, I stopped it AND got the out.

In the Photo Friday

I'm so excited that so many of you are going to participate in the "In the Photo Friday" photo challenge with me! To answer a few questions from the comments in the last post:

1- Yes, please feel free to use the badge, or make your own!
2- There are really no rules, except it must be a current picture. It doesn't HAVE to be of your face, but I would encourage it...the whole purpose is to actually have pictures of YOURSELF for once!

Without further ado...here's the photos for Week 1. My dad was kind enough to snap a couple of pictures before Justin and I headed out for our anniversary date on Wednesday night. And date night was glorious.

It's awesome to have a family picture, even if my roots drive me nuts in the shot :) Now the next step is that I need to print some off and actually get them up in frames around the house...ya know, 'cause Lizzy does live here too!

Camera Shy.

The other night, Justin and I were talking about my body image right now. Let's just say that it's not great. I'm pretty darn frustrated with it, and just frustrated with myself in general, because when I look in the mirror, I don't like anything that I see.

Sure, my body just accomplished the incredible feat of giving birth. It has come a long way. But it's still really bizarre to look in the mirror and not recognize the person looking back.

Anyway, we discussed that the really bad part about this {aside from feeling badly about myself}, is that there are very few pictures of Lizzy and I together. I'm already usually the one behind the camera, and if I'm not, now I just tend to automatically delete any pictures that happen to be snapped of me because I hate how I look.

So, I've decided to embark upon a challenge. From now until September 1st, I pinky promise to post one picture of myself each week. Anyone want to play along?

They don't have to be well-composed shots. Or even in focus. It just has to be a current picture of you. We start tomorrow :)
