-I seriously feel like I spend 85% of the day cleaning lately, but yet my house is still a DISASTER. How does that happen?
-Lately, when Lizzy is mad that she's being put to bed when she doesn't want to be, she takes off all her clothes and diaper. Sometimes, she goes to the bathroom in the crib. This has happened three times in the past two days. She's gotten out of a footed sleeper, a onesie and leggings, and jeans and a shirt. I am sort of at the end of my rope here. I don't know what to do other than put duct tape over the diaper velcro when I lay her down, but I feel like that could come back to bite me in the butt somehow.
-I'm having trouble staying motivated to do Turbo Fire. It's been a month. I've been averaging 5-6 days a week. It's HARD. I just took progress pictures and literally saw no difference. But, I'm just the type of person with the type of metabolism where I'm just going to have to work out almost every day no matter what for the rest of my life. I'm kind of irritated about it though. Especially when I have a husband who can drink soda, eat candy, chips, and copious amounts of fast food, and lose weight without even trying. Must have something to do with that manual labor job, eh?
-I've been on a total book kick lately. This month, in addition to Love at First Bark I've read:
- The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho
- Food Rules by Michael Pollan
- Sweethearts by Sara Zarr
- Friendship Bread by Darien Gee
- Dogs of Babel by Carolyn Parkhurst
I feel your pain with the cleaning. I had a good routine going but have sadly gotten out of it, now I feel like I'm constantly playing catch up. Argh.
ReplyDeleteGood luck on the diaper situation! That's happened to me a couple of times but only when I was too lazy to put pants on him.
I always love to hear your reviews, because I think we have similar style in reading. What'd you think of the Alchemist?
ReplyDeleteI am right there with yah on the working out seeing hardly any advance part of the story. *frustrating* to say the least.
ReplyDeleteI would love to hear your comments on Paulo Coelho's 'Alchemist' as you may know he's one of the most popular southamerican (brazilian) authors, but to me this was a hard to read book. Maybe I'm just LAME. ;)
I love your book reviews! So much so that I wait to see the rating before adding a book to my library list! Keep on sharin...
ReplyDeleteI'm the same way with cleaning. But there is ALWAYS something that's dirty. Esp with 2 animals & a messy boyfriend. I can't even imagine if we had a child! & I hate that I can't relax when there's a mess. Makes home a place I don't really want to be. How nice would it be to be able to afford a cleaning person!?
ReplyDeleteTotally feel ya on cleaning - ugh.
ReplyDeleteRegarding Lizzy taking off her clothes - you can buy sleepers that zip up the back, maybe that would help?
I don't know if I've passed this info along to you before or not, but I use "Motivated Moms Chore List" (google it) and I LOVE it. It's the only way my house stays clean :)
ReplyDeleteI've heard of friends putting their kids diapers on backwards when they get to that stage of ripping it off in the crib. Wonder if that would work for Lizzy?
Cass did that with her diapers. What helped: I put on her zip up sleepers backwards. And then duck taped the zipper down so she couldn't get it undone. worked every time.
ReplyDeleteMaybe try overalls? Though I do like the backwards sleeper idea. (I'm guessing they aren't footed?) Maybe put the overalls on backwards! Good luck!
ReplyDeleteI want to know your opinion on The Alchemist, because I've read a few Paolo Coehlo books and I'm just not a fan. It's one of those authors who is so loved and respected that I want to like his work, but I don't so far. Any insights to share?
ReplyDeleteI read Dogs of Babel maybe a year or so ago. Such an interesting book! Another request for a review of The Alchemist. I agree with a pp who said she just can't get into Coehlo books. People are always telling me that I will love him, but I just can't get into it. Maybe I should try The Alchemist?
ReplyDeleteI really enjoyed the Alchemist. I read it probably 5 years ago and honestly I remember really liking it but not so much about it.
