Who Needs Sleep?

I don't know if I've ever mentioned this one interesting little tidbit about Justin here on the blog before, but when he's especially tired, he sleepwalks. And talks in his sleep as well--but not incoherently like most people...he carries on full conversations that are for the most part totally coherant. Sometimes, I don't even really realize that he's still asleep for a good 10 minutes into the conversation, when he finally says or does something really bizarre. Actually, I had forgotten all about Justin's funny little sleepwalking and sleep talking until last night, when the following event occurred (which I did NOT find funny at the time, but is pretty dang hilarious now!):

The setting--about 3am. I needed to feed Lizzy but was in a lot of pain, so I was trying to wake Justin up for him to bring her to me.

Me: Babe, could you please bring Lizzy to me? I don't think that I can get up right now. And could you get me a glass of water and my pain meds too?
Justin: Sure.
Justin gets up, gets a glass of water and my pain meds, hands them to me, and gets back into bed
Me: What are you doing?
Justin: Going back to sleep.
Me: I thought you were going to bring me Lizzy?
Justin: I changed my mind.
Me: What?
Justin: Do it yourself. I'm tired.
Me: Excuse me? What did you just say?
Justin: I'm going back to bed.
Me: I cannot believe you won't help me with this! I'm just as tired as you are!
Justin rolled over, and slept. I got up, got Lizzy, and started feeding her. I was absolutely seething at this point. About 3 minutes later, Justin sits straight up in bed.
Justin: What are you doing?
Me: What does it LOOK like I'm doing?
Justin: I know, but I thought I was going to help bring Lizzy to you so you didn't have to get up out of bed tonight...why didn't you wake me up?
Me: Are you kidding?! I tried! You told me to do it myself!
A completely horrified look crosses Justin's face.
Justin: I said what?! I don't remember saying anything!
Me: must have been talking in your sleep again! Thank God!

I have a feeling there may be many more funny little sleep conversations in store for me over the next few weeks!

  1. ahahahahahahahaha! Oh boy, that is hilarious! Poor Justin, he's really going to get himself in trouble if he's not careful! I can sympathize, I used to sleep walk/sleep talk a lot-I thankfully seem to be settling down more as a I get older or maybe it's because I just don't get very good sleep at all... I'll be praying for quick healing for you! Btw...are you accepting baby gifts? :)

  2. OH MY GOSH. I can not believe you allowed him to live. Tony would have been smothered in pillows, I'm sure you were weighing the option lol!

  3. LOL! I cracked up at work. That is awesome.

  4. Oh my goodness, Meredith, that is HILARIOUS!! I was literally LOL'ing at my desk. Like you said, awful in the moment, but too freaking funny afterwards. And it shows how sweet Justin is that he was horrified to see you up with Lizzy already. :)

I hope you are healing well, dear. I'm praying for you!

  5. Oh man, it sounds like you will be having a LOT of moments that will make you want to laugh and kill Justin all at the same time!

  6. :) Yea not so funny in the moment, but maybe pretty funny after the fact. I hope you start hurting a little less soon!! Thinking about you and praying for you friend!

  7. I just got a funny look for laughing so hard at my desk ;) No, not funny in the moment, but glad you were able to laugh about it after you realized what had happened. You need to add a side columnt to the blog titled "Things Justin Has Said/Done While Asleep" so that we can all stay entertained.

Hope you're healing well & I'm praying for you, Justin & Lizzy.

  8. That is a pretty cute least he was upset after he realized what was going on? Hope everything is going great!

  9. Oh that is hysterical! I would have been upset at first too, but looking back, it is pretty funny.

Hope your recovery is going smoothly!

  10. Oh, I'm sure it wasn't funny at the time, but I am laughing...during the middle of a meeting!!

  11. Great story! I love it. Glad you all are home and getting into your routine.

  12. What a great story! Maybe that's one for the baby book...! Hope you heal and start feeling back to normal very soon!

  13. Oh! I would have killed John in that situation! Too funny! Hope you start feeling better soon!

  14. I'm definitely at work & laughed out loud. I have the same sleepwalking/talking & will scream & yell at AJ. He's not so understanding though - he thinks my true feelings come out when I sleepwalk/talk. :-) Hope everything is going well for you guys!

  15. oh my! That is too funny. sounds like something my hubby would do!

  16. This seriously made me laugh so hard!! It made my afternoon after such a boring day full of non-sense meetings at work...
I'm sorry Mere, at the moment I'm pretty sure it brought tears to your eyes...But Thanks for sharing such a Hilarious story.... out! next time I really don't think she'll find it as

  17. O gosh, that is hilarious! He's lucky you didn't slap him right then and there! haha You'll have to keep sharing these fun stories with us! I hope all is well with you and baby Lizzy!

  18. Ok... I have been WAY MAI for way to long. First congrats and I think she is adorable!

Now I'm off to read more about all Ive missed in your life!

  19. Oh my goodness, that's too much! I probably would've had a very similar reaction. Excuse me?! LOL :) I'm so glad he wasn't completely coherent. :)

  20. OMG! We're married to the same man! My husband does stuff like this all the time! It makes me so, so mad, and he doesn't even know it. He apologizes profusely and gets disgusted with himself, but still...

It's funny when you're awake and happy! But in the moment...AHHHHH!

  21. Elvis Pretzely is only the single best ice cream ever!?! Vanilla custard, covered with pretzels covered with caramel and hardshell chocolate...I live for this ice cream! So yum!!!
