-Later that weekend, we went to a birthday party for our friends whose daughter just turned one. I can't believe she's so big already! Love birthday parties at parks...so much fun!
(I really want to convince her momma to let me do a full on cake smash photo session with her!)
Payton's expression in this one cracked me up!
-Our garden is coming together really well despite battling earwigs and snails. We harvested our first crop yesterday--radishes. They are huge.
- I have a family photo shoot this afternoon. I am nervous! I always am before photo shoots--it's like presentations at school.
- I think I'm just about ready to drop another pants size, which is awesome. HOWEVER, I cannot seem to actually lose any weight, which is weird because I'm definitely getting smaller. And its irritating because I have to go into the doctor here in a couple weeks, and I'm dreading it, because he's going to just look at the scale, and we're going to have the following conversation, which plays over and over in my head:
Dr: Meredith, you weigh the same now as you did at your six week postpartum appointment.
Me: I know, but I've been running three to five days a week, and I've dropped three pants sizes.
Dr: But by your BMI, you are considered obese. We need to get your BMI lower.
Me: I just don't know what else to do--I'm eating healthily, not tons of junk. Watching portions. I'm exercising three to five days a week.
And then the doctor will give me the side eye, because if I'm doing that, I SHOULD be losing weight, but I am not. So he is not going to believe me, even though it's true.
Can I say again how people say, "Oh, if you breastfeed, the weight will just melt right off!" are liars. Because I cannot seem to lose a pound.
Congratulations on going down another pant size! That's awesome! As to people who say that about breast feeding...it's definitely not always true. I have known plenty of women who struggled to loose a single pound while they were breast-feeding so it definitely goes both ways! Take heart, you are going about it the right way!
ReplyDeleteLove the wedding dress that your niece is wearing next to the gaga mummy!
ReplyDeleteCongrats on your progress - there really should be another way to measure health than BMI. Just continue making healthy choices and exercising and you'll be fine - whether the scale says the number you want or not.
I always hated when I was pregnant and I would gain too much, and my doctor would look at me like I was nuts when I would tell him I didn't understand why! Of course now I know that I was carrying around way too much fluid! Not the same, but I feel your pain of the doctor totally thinking you are lying!
ReplyDeleteLooks like you guys had a blast at the shower, wish we could be home for the wedding!
what a fun weekend!! cute pictures!
ReplyDeleteyour radishes are huge! they look yummy though! i love those things ;)
try not to be so hard on yourself hun. the weight will eventually come off, you are doing all the right things! that doc needs to stop giving you looks and being hard on you. encouragement would help me a lot more!
I just said the same thing yesterday...those "the weight will fall off with nursing" people are a bunch of liars.
ReplyDeleteI'm in the same boat as you...nursing, exercising, eating healthy and not losing ANY weight. At least I know I'm not alone! :)
Congrats on going down a pant size!! That's fantastic!
Congrats on the lower pants size! Payton's face is pure determination. Good job on the running!
ReplyDeleteDo know this: BMI is actually not a very accurate measure of fitness, health, appropriate body weight. It doesn't take into account density, etc.
ReplyDeleteTrust me, if he has an issue, he's an idiot. He should know the issues with BMI! He's a physician! I'm sure he's seen the studies!
I haven't lost any weight since 6 wks postpartum either. Henry will be 4 wks tomorrow. Just know that you are not alone. I have got to get my butt and gear and it done.
ReplyDeleteBreastfeeding hasn't done a thing for me either.
Hey there, my pants are starting to fit much better too and I haven't changed my weight since the end of March. I think our hips are just starting to go back!!! I am sorry you are not having good luck dropping anymore weight, it sounds like you are trying so hard! Have you tried strength training with weights and resistance bars or bands? Increasing muscle tone will kick start your metabolism and help you build lean muscle. Just keep at it, you will get there!!!!!
