Right now, I'm reading A Prayer for Owen Meany. I have been reading this book for MONTHS. I'm usually a pretty quick reader, but it's just taking me forever and a day to get through this book! It has 826 five star reviews on Amazon, but I'm honestly still waiting for the story to pick up.
Sometimes I feel like I "don't get it" when it comes to books...I never seem to like the same books that the rest of the world likes. Know what I mean?
Anyway....what are YOU reading right now?

I just finished Sugar by Bernice McFadden and am getting ready to start the new Nicholas Sparks book. Sugar was okay. I found myself skipping over large parts of it though.
ReplyDeleteI'm reading The Time Paradox by Eoin Colfer, part of the Artemis Fowl series. I'm a big fan of Young Adult books, especialy when I feel like I'm having a hard time getting through and enjoying other books -- they often provide just the spark I need.
ReplyDeleteI've read things that have been on the bestseller list and that I've heard nothing but good things about, and I just don't connect with them. In my head I recognize its good writing, but the book just isn't for me. For me, as long as I'm happy with what I'm reading and enjoying myself, I don't worry about not liking what the rest of the world thinks is wonderful.
I'm with you. I usually like the books and movies that receive the least amount of stars! I guess I have less than par taste :-D
ReplyDeleteCase in point...right now I'm reading "My horizontal Life" by Chelsea Handler. Real quality stuff there!!!
I'm reading "Skinny Bitch" and it is changing the way I think about food right now!
ReplyDeleteI read A Prayer for Owen Meany in high school and liked it alright, but, it is hard to see the point and I can't say I loved it. John Irving writes really elaborate stories which can be good but also means it takes forever to see what the purpose of it all is.
ReplyDeleteHow far into it are you? I think it gets better once they're not children anymore, but you may disagree.
I am reading American Wife by Curtis Sittenfeld. Its pretty good so far..
