Anyway.
I have really, really thick hair. I can't tell you how many times I've gone into a salon and asked them to thin my hair, and they're all like, 'Oh honey, no one wants thinner hair!' And then the feel my hair and they're like, 'Ohhhhhhh.'
See, putting my hair up in a ponytail to go running requires at least three ponytail holders, and I'm still tightening it all throughout my run. A messy bun? Requires at least five.
The other day, on a whim I bought these:
I actually hadn't read about them or seen them anywhere prior to buying them, but they are made out of the same sort of material that jelly shoes are made out of. I loved my jellies as a kid, I love to buy them for Lizzy, and I was intrigued. So I bought them.
And they work. As I type this, I'm all sweaty from our Insanity workout this morning, and I have one hair tie in my hair. I didn't even TOUCH my hair the entire workout!!! Ah, bliss. It really is the little things, isn't it?! I seriously want to go buy like 25 packs, because you know they're going to discontinue them because I love them so much. The only downside is that they hurt a bit coming out of my hair, but so does trying to detangle a messy bun with five hairties, so that's nothing new for me.
PS- This is not a paid review by Scünci. They also did not supply the hairties for my review. In fact, I'm pretty sure that they have no idea that my little blog exists. I just bought something that I liked and thought I'd share it with y'all.
Mmmm... I love no-slip hair ties! I've got rather thick hair as well - as in hair stylists always say that they underestimated how long a color/blowdry/highlights will take because they don't realize how many layers of hair are in there :)
ReplyDeleteI was pretty bald until I turned 3 though, so I figure I earned it!
interesting! i haven't seen these...
ReplyDeletei actually have the opposite problem - super thin hair - yet i have the same issues - hair ties slide off since my hair isn't thick enough to hold them on. might have to try these out - thanks!
ha.... made me laugh when you said they'd probably discontinue them since you love them. I totally stock up when I love something with that same cynical thought in my head. haha...
ReplyDeleteYour blog = not little. :)
ReplyDeleteThanks for the tip, I too have very thick hair and am always looking for something genius to keep my hair intact.
Oh, I love these hairties, too! Except...my hot sweaty mess of wavy hair can get tangled them and then. oooooow. But they hold my hair so well I deal with the inevitable every other day tangles.
ReplyDeleteThis makes me so happy for you!
ReplyDeleteI have super thick hair too and these hair ties rock!
ReplyDeleteI'm going to have to check these out! I also have thick hair. Probably not as thick as yours, from the looks of it, but thicker than most and to top it off, I have a lot of hair, but it's very fine so it doesn't stay back in a hair tie very well. I have the same situation where my hair is constantly falling down, which is super annoying! I have been using a no-slip grip type of hair tie (maybe made by the same company...), but the problem is that either the elastic pulls apart without totally breaking after like 2 uses, which means that it doesn't hold as well since it's super stretched out or the "grippy" part on it, which is like a line of glue, breaks into pieces and falls off and I'm left with a non-grippy hair tie. *sigh* I really is a pain. I will definitely pick up a pack of these next I'm I'm out because I think I'm on my last band from the other pack.
ReplyDeleteI am going to have to find some of these! Nothing irritates me more than stopping in the middle of a work out because my dang hair is falling out of it's pony tail!
ReplyDeleteHair in face is one of the biggest workout killers known to man. It a tie for me right up there with poor underwear choice.
ReplyDeleteI too, get my hair thinned out every 6-8 weeks! I will be looking for these... :)
ReplyDeleteThose are the BINDERS I use too!
ReplyDeleteOh man what a find. I laughed at the "discontinue" line. My favorite bobby pins (they were curved) were discontinued and I still complain about it to my husband.
