Today's BQOTD: Do you have a vegetable garden? If so, what do you grow? If not, why don't you do the veggie garden thang?
We do have a garden--this year we have already planted several varieties of tomatoes, green pepper, yellow pepper, Anaheim chili pepper, (we will also plant jalapenos, but I forgot to start them, so I'll have to buy some starts!), sugar snap peas, radishes, green beans, lettuce, yellow zucchini, spinach, cucumbers, basil, dill, mint, chives, and oregano. We also have a raised bed and a planter of strawberries!

We do have a somewhat lame small City garden so far this year with tomatoes, strawberries and various herbs. I will go out to my dad's and plant the rest (corn, beans, radishes, lettuce, raspberries) once he tills up the yard. Between those and our CSA, we should be good on veggies. The only reason I am limited in our own garden is because of space. Tony wouldn't let me take over the whole yard - so I go to my dad's and do that instead!
ReplyDeleteI'm trying to be better with growing things...Most I kill, ugh. But I'm growing tomatoes right now...Question: I put them in small pots, but they're about to outgrow them. Should I plant them in the soil or just buy larger pots?
ReplyDeleteWe have a tiny herb garden and I plant a few veggies in there, too. Mostly tomatoes and right now lettuce and peas. I'll plant the basil and tomatoes next week - we've had some harsh weather lately and I've held off on those more tempermental plants.
ReplyDeleteWe don't have a house yet, but I long for the day I can plant a garden so we can have fresh seasonal vegetables for almost free! However, I don't look forward to tending a garden. Dirt, yuck! Haha
ReplyDeleteWe are hopefully planting this year. We have to get the bed finished. But I started tomatoes and basil from seed and they actually made it and are getting tall!
ReplyDeleteI hope someday to plant as many veggies as you... how exciting.
Yes, we have a garden every summer. This summer we are growing 5 types of heirloom tomatoes, bell peppers, jalapenos, acorn squash, lettuce, chives, oregano, chard, and rosemary. I can not wait til our tomatoes are ready!
ReplyDeleteDo you love your strawberries? THey are my favorite! Sounds like a great, extensive garden. Love it.
ReplyDeleteHad one last year. Won't this year, as I'll be moving during the summer. We grew way too many zucchinis and cucumber, some jalapeños that barely came in, tomatoes, basil, corn (delicious), and some weird ginger-mint thing that just sorta grew without us planting it, but which we nurtured.
