In total, Justin was either out of town, or working night for five weeks. Needless to say, I was in some pretty desperate need of a girl's night. And wine. Lots of wine. And I had the perfect opportunity to throw a party last night--through {Crowdtap}, I was selected to host a house party for Hawaiian Tropic's new Shimmer Effects sunscreen and after-sun lotion!I could hardly believe it when I opened the box from Hawaiian Tropic and saw that they had sent ten tote bags filled with samples, goodies, and coupons. Who doesn't like free stuff?!
Yesterday morning, I was at a friend's house and she told me to go pick some lilacs. Yum, yes please. I thought that some lilacs in a canning jar would make a pretty center piece:
Then I found some other flowers too. I'm no good at flowers, so I have no idea what these are, but they're my favorite flower-shade of purple.
I love lilacs. Unfortunately, I don't think they love me. I have a killer headache from them sitting on the table all day. But I still want to plant a lilac bush/tree!
Here are the tote/beach bags from Hawaiian Tropic. They are awesome, really big, and I think they'll be perfect for toting towels to the lake this summer.
They sent the party hostess two full size lotions, the gold tote bag, a loofah, and a Schick Quattro Trim Style Razor! I actually already own the razor and love it, so I decided to do a drawing to give it and the tote bag away to one of the lucky party attendees.
Here's the lotions--both smell really, really yummy. I preferred the after-sun lotion, which smelled like coconut and papaya. Both lotions also have a subtle shimmer, which I'm sure would have been beautiful outdoors in the sun. I wouldn't know because it's raining here!
Anyway, I often get chemical burns from sunscreen, so there's a very limited number of sunscreens that I'm able to use...and they are all super expensive. I think I'm going to at least give this new Hawaiian Tropics sunscreen a shot, because MAN it smells good!
The food spread--I made chicken pasta salad with green, red, and yellow peppers, tomatoes, cheese, and a balsamic dressing. I also made the Snickers trifle, and then picked up a Gorgonzola cheese torta with cranberries and hazelnuts. Then, everyone else brought an appetizer. Oh, and we had wine (we tried out the Lucky Duck Shiraz, which was meh, but still red wine). I love potlucks!
Trying out the lotions:
Princess Lizzy:
My sister won the razor. Yes, she is my biological sister. Yes, I know that we don't look alike at all. It's even funnier when we're standing because I'm 5'10" and she's maybe 5'3". Good stuff.
Overall? An awesome night filled with good food, good friends, and good old fashioned girl talk. It was such a great night, and MUCH needed! What more could I ask for?! I'm feeling super blessed right now :)
PS- Just like the last Crowdtap post, I was not paid to write this post, nor was it a requirement of having the House Party...I just blog about my life, and this was part of it. However, I will write an unbiased party recap/product review for Crowdtap and MAY receive compensation for that...though it doesn't really have anything to do with this blog whatsoever.

ReplyDeleteHow much fun is that - looks like an awesome party!
ReplyDeleteThis looks like a ton of fun. I'm gonna have to give that razor a try (I'm allergic to most sunscreen's too, so I just stick with what works for now, but I'm always a little jealous when I hear about good smelling and shimmery stuff!)
ReplyDeleteI wish I could have come! ha! ;)
ReplyDeleteSo fun and I'm glad you got a girls night, you deserved it!
How fun! Love those flower that you don't know what they are... they are so pretty.
ReplyDeleteSo fun:) I love any reason for a Girl's Night!
ReplyDeleteLove the flower pictures. The second ones are bluebells. They are an early spring flower so ours have been over for a while. They grow in woodland and under trees. So pretty.
